I live within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem—a landscape of extraordinary cultural, spiritual and ecological significance. Long before the creation of the National Park, these mountains, valleys and waterways were a place of convergence, settlement, transition, and ceremony for many tribes, including the Apsáalooke (Crow), Shoshone-Bannock, Blackfeet, Nez Perce (Nimiipuu), Salish, Kootenai, and dozens of others whose presence and connections here continue today. I acknowledge this with humility and a desire to locate myself within a much larger, longer story.
